The Most Desolate Places You Can Visit in Your RV

As the world grows increasingly crowded, the call of the open road has become a necessary retreat for many. From the rugged peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the sweeping plains of the Midwest, many regions of America present a diverse array of landscapes that offer serene getaways. Whether you’re looking for a winter hideaway or a summer vacation, these remote regions offer a peaceful refuge from the crowds.

This helpful guide is for RV travelers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and to find tranquility in nature. RV Trader is sharing some of the most desolate places across the United States that you can visit in your RV.

    Denali National Park, Alaska

Named for the highest mountain found in North America, Denali National Park boasts over six million acres of parkland and nature preserve, much of it untamed wilderness. The 93-mile Park Road provides visitors access deep into the interior – though at the moment, the Pretty Rocks Landslide has blocked off the road beyond Mile 43, with the closure expected to continue into 2026.

Though the park welcomes over half a million visitors every year, most never go far beyond the entrance to the park, with the first (and busiest) campsite at Riley Creek sitting at Mile 0.25. For those seeking true peace and quiet, Savage River Campground at Mile 14 and Teklanika River Campground at Mile 29 are open to visitors from late May to mid-September.

With no hookups, no cell reception, and only the bare necessities when it comes to facilities, staying in Denali National Park is for wildlife lovers, adventurers, and those who want to satisfy their wanderlust amidst mountains and glaciers.

    Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska

For those who want to put their rig to the test, the 13.2-million-acre Wrangell-St. Elias National Park has only two access roads, McCarthy Road and Nabesna Road, both gravel, neither with any place to get gas. Infrastructure is almost non-existent beyond the few visitor centers and ranger stations, which are only open during the summer.

Adventurers brave enough to make the trek to America’s largest national park will find Mt. St. Elias, the second-highest peak in the U.S.; Mt. Wrangell, one of the largest active volcanoes on the continent; and a glacier larger than the state of Rhode Island! What you likely won’t find are neighbors – of the human variety, at least. (Maybe invest in a bear-resistant food container.)

    Hells Canyon, Idaho and Oregon

Hells Canyon beckons adventurers from all over the country, stretching across Idaho and Oregon. This natural marvel, sitting even lower than the Grand Canyon, offers sweeping panoramas, invigorating hikes, and an unmatched sense of serenity. Here, you can dive into the rugged landscapes and uncover hidden treasures that punctuate the terrain. Set up camp at Hells Canyon Park, which contains 21 RV sites with water and electric hookups.

To find true peace and quiet, you must often venture away from the chaos of daily life and embrace the calm of remote destinations scattered throughout the country. In each of these areas, you can surround yourself with unique terrain, a variety of outdoor activities, and desolate, quiet scenery. The path less chosen frequently unfolds into a remarkable and memorable adventure.

    Death Valley National Park, California

When seeking desolate locations, consider journeying to Death Valley, an otherworldly wonder that holds the title of being the lowest, hottest, and driest national park in the United States. Despite its ominous name, Death Valley unveils serene landscapes that captivate the senses, from salt flats to sand dunes and unique and colorful geological formations. Picture immersing yourself in the remote tranquility of the Furnace Creek Campground, where you can disconnect from the world and savor a remarkable experience enveloped by the solitude of this desert oasis.

    Black Hills, South Dakota

In the charming Midwest, the Black Hills await, boasting scenic beauty, a peaceful atmosphere, and the infamous Mount Rushmore. This alluring mountain range, celebrated for its small population, provides a serene haven to park your RV amongst tall ponderosa pine forests. Here, you can immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the area, while also embarking on hikes, observing wildlife, and exploring the historic Old West town of Deadwood.

    Big Bend National Park, Texas

Big Bend National Park in Texas is nestled perfectly into the rugged beauty of the Southwest. This captivating destination offers a surreal experience, with its rugged mountains, vast desert plains, and the iconic Rio Grande gently winding through the terrain. As the sun sets, you can immerse yourself in the wonders of the night sky, for Big Bend is a stargazer’s dream come true. Picture setting up your RV at the Chisos Basin Campground, located far from the lights of the city, allowing you to revel in the untainted beauty of the starry sky above.

    Porcupine Mountains, Michigan

In the northern reaches of Michigan lies the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, a pristine haven of dense forests, unspoiled rivers, and the allure of the Lake Superior coastline. Here, travelers can delight in the harmony of nature as they wander through enchanting trails, encountering breathtaking vistas and observing wildlife along the way.

    North Maine Woods, Maine

If it’s stargazing you’re into, you won’t find darker skies on the East Coast than those above the North Maine Woods. Visitors are advised to come equipped with everything they need for their stay, as well as a spare tire or tire patch kit or two, since there aren’t any paved roads in the region. That last factoid may be surprising, considering that timber corporations own most of the land.

At over 3.5 million acres in size, it’s about the size of the entire Tokyo metropolitan area – which boasts a population of over 37 million people versus the 100,000 visitors the North Maine Woods welcomes every year. Whether it’s hunting, fishing, or just getting lost in nature you’re after, this is a must-visit destination. Just watch out for the logging trucks.

If you prefer to keep your wheels on asphalt, consider the Acadia National Park or Rangeley Lake State Park.

    Adirondack Park, New York

Adirondack Park in New York is a great spot for RV enthusiasts seeking seclusion. The vast wilderness offers a myriad of hiking trails, weaving through enchanting forests and pristine lakes. Here, travelers can encounter majestic moose and elusive bears, while embracing tranquility at the numerous RV-friendly campsites.

    The Everglades, Florida

The Everglades, a sprawling Florida gem, beckons adventurers with its untamed wilderness spread across hundreds of miles. Its massive network of wetlands and forests features plenty of diverse wildlife, from alligators to rare bird species. The Flamingo Campground, nestled among enchanting mangroves and serene marshes, provides a tranquil, RV-friendly haven for exploration.

    Tips for Your Winter Getaway

    Prepare for the Weather

While you’re preparing to tackle the slopes, you should also ensure your RV is equipped to handle the snowy roads – even if winter tires or tire chains are not legally required where you’re going, you’ll want to double-check the depth of the tread on your tires. It’s also wise to test your heating system and inspect the insulation in your RV so you can stay warm and toasty (and avoid frozen water tanks) at your wintry destination.

Pro Tip: Check the local weather forecast and watch for road closures before traveling. Ice and snow can quickly cover roads, reduce visibility, and create treacherous driving conditions.

    Book Early, or Go Late

RV parks around ski resorts can fill up quickly and you’ll want to make a reservation as soon as you have firm dates. The busiest times for skiing are around holidays and long weekends in winter: Christmas in December, Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January, and Presidents’ Day in February. To avoid the crowds, you can go earlier or later in the season, but the accumulation of snow on the slopes and the quality of the coverage are more variable in November and March/April.

Pro Tip: Some campgrounds offer shuttle buses to the slopes, saving you the hassle of finding parking and giving you easy access to the lifts.

    Dispersed Camping at National Forests

Dispersed camping in national forests allows RVers to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying the freedom of remote camping. Unlike traditional campgrounds, dispersed camping allows RVers to park off designated roads and camp in undeveloped areas, providing a more secluded and primitive experience. RVers must adhere to specific regulations, such as staying within a designated distance from roads and water sources and practicing Leave No Trace principles.

A few examples of National Forests with dispersed campaign opportunities along the path of the eclipse:

    • Houston, Texas: Sam Houston National Forest offers picnic areas, hiking trails, and fishing spots along the numerous lakes and streams scattered throughout the forest. For information on where you can take advantage of dispersed camping, check out this article by the dryt
    • Rolla, Missouri: Mark Twain National Forest is excited to welcome viewers of the eclipse and has even provided a complete list of tips to make your viewing stellar!
    • Marienville, Pennsylvania: Allegheny National Forest offers dispersed RV camping off of Forest Road 160 for a secluded spot in the heart of nature.

To find national forests near you that permit dispersed camping, resources like the U.S. Forest Service website and apps such as Campendium and Recreation.gov offer information on dispersed camping areas, regulations, and any required permits, empowering RVers to plan their outdoor adventures responsibly and sustainably.

    RV Eclipse Camping

    Casinos

Casinos can be an unexpected yet convenient option for RVers looking to park and watch the solar eclipse. Many casinos across the United States offer designated RV parking areas, complete with amenities like security, restrooms, and sometimes even hookups for electricity and water. This makes them a practical choice for those seeking a safe and comfortable spot to witness the event. Additionally, the bustling atmosphere of a casino can add an element of excitement to the eclipse-watching experience, providing opportunities for entertainment and dining before or after the main event.

    • St. Louis, Missouri: River City Casino & Hotel offers free RV parking in their south parking lot. This spot offers several dining options with a pub, buffet, coffee shop, steak house, and Italian and Asian cuisine options.
    • West Memphis, Arkansas: Southland Casino boasts many reports from RVers that this casino offers a welcome arrival with a security escort to an easily maneuvered parking lot, with plenty of space for a free overnight stay.
    • Anderson, Indiana: Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino offers free dry overnight RV parking. The lot is level, well lit, and there are plenty of grassy areas to walk your pets. There’s even a shuttle to bring you to the casino. This location offers plenty of dining options within the casino and even has a Walmart on the way in.

    Designated Viewing Sites

NASA is partnering with a few locations in the path of totality for the 2024 Solar Eclipse. These locations are:

    • Kerrville, Texas: Kerrville and Ingram are gearing up to be in the path of complete totality for the 2024 Solar Eclipse! With Kerrville boasting 4 minutes and 24 seconds, and Ingram an astonishing 4 minutes and 26 seconds, it’s set to be an unforgettable event.
    • Indianapolis, Indiana: Indianapolis lies within the path of totality and offers an ideal location to witness and revel in the eclipse. Indy is hosting a weekend-long celebration filled with gatherings, film screenings, games, special performances, lectures, and more throughout the city. Join in the festivities to commemorate space, astronomy, astrology, and all things related to the eclipse. Don’t miss out!
    • Cleveland, Ohio: Cleveland is celebrating a “Blackout to Remember.” Invite your family and friends to enjoy unobstructed views of the eclipse above Lake Erie. Take part in specially curated, kid-friendly science activities in Downtown Cleveland and surrounding areas.

Each location will provide a group viewing area for the public, but be sure to do your own research on RV parking as some locations may not allow larger vehicles such as Class A RVs and Travel Trailers. And, as always, support local businesses while you’re visiting!

    Farms, Wineries, and Breweries

Did you know that there are farms, wineries, and breweries that allow RV parking and overnight stays across the United States? If this piques your interest, you have to check out Harvest Hosts!

Harvest Hosts is a membership program where members are connected to and can stay at participating farms, wineries, and breweries in their RVs. Enjoy the rural setting and the chance to purchase fresh produce and other products directly from your hosts. Check out this list of hosts in the path of eclipse totality who may still have availability!

    Safety First!

As you anticipate the solar eclipse, remember to prioritize safety and plan ahead. Equip yourself with certified solar viewing glasses to protect your eyes from the sun’s brilliance during the event. Avoid makeshift filters or regular sunglasses, as they won’t provide adequate protection. Embrace indirect viewing methods like pinhole projectors for a unique perspective, and savor the fleeting moments of totality with caution. By following these precautions, you can enjoy the eclipse with family and friends while keeping your vision safe.

  • Major League Baseball’s 6 Biggest Hitters for RV Tailgating

Major League Baseball’s 6 Biggest Hitters for RV Tailgating

See if your favorite team’s MLB tailgate scene swings for the fences—or strikes out.

They don’t call baseball the Great American Pastime for nothing. Even with the new rules designed to speed up the game, baseball plays at its own leisurely pace. And as campers, we like that. Parked at the Ole Ball Game, there’s plenty of time to grab more than peanuts and Cracker Jacks—both before and during the game. Which makes MLB tailgating a dream destination for RVers to sit back, soak up some atmosphere and fill the air with a lot of savory smells from our outdoor kitchens. Just about all you need for a great day.

Especially if you pick the right ballpark.

So, wonder which MLB ballparks have a tailgating scene worthy of an epic RV road trip? Let us share the Major League fields with Big League food and fun for any baseball fan looking to catch a tailgate worthy of a road trip.

Shop for new and used Class A RVs for sale online.

6 MLB Ballparks with the Highest RV Tailgate TPR

    • Milwaukee Brewers: American Family Field
Synonymous with beer and sausage, you know American Family Field can’t go wrong, offering the quintessential MLB tailgating experience for any camper lucky enough to pull in. With ample parking and minimal restrictions, fans can indulge in the ultimate pregame festivities, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and nearby attractions.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot

    • Kansas City Royals: Kauffman Stadium
Located right next to Kansas City’s other pro sports stadium, Kansas City’s fabled tailgating experience sets the stage for an unforgettable pregame experience. Families and adults alike can indulge in the game day atmosphere surrounding the stadium, making it a top destination for fans seeking both excitement and relaxation.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot

    • Chicago White Sox: Guaranteed Rate Field
With the parking lot open 2 ½ hours before first pitch, the pre-game environment ensures a memorable experience for fans. Guaranteed Rate Field’s location right next to the interstate means it’s in a prime location for getting in and out (unlike its cross town rivals at Wrigley Field). Weekend games at Guaranteed Rate Field usually host hundreds of eager fans before the game.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot

    • Atlanta Braves: Truist Park
Also featuring their own designated tailgate lot, Truist Park features few restrictions on tailgating that allow for a great pre-game environment. With proximity to ‘The Battery Atlanta, families and adults can all enjoy the pre-game environment of Truist Park. RVs are permitted in Lot 29.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot No. 29

    • San Francisco Giants: Oracle Park
Oracle Parks’s designated tailgate lot offers a vibrant pregame atmosphere. Families and adults alike can revel in the diverse entertainment options surrounding the stadium, making it a popular destination for fans seeking both excitement and relaxation.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot A

    Oracle Park

    • Pittsburgh Pirates: PNC Park
PNC Park secures its spot on the list as one of the ultimate tailgating destinations, boasting proximity to the vibrant city of Pittsburgh. Despite not topping any single category, its consistent high rankings across the board, combined with a serene countryside setting at Mountain Top Campground, ensure a memorable pregame experience for fans of all ages.Nearest RV Parking Spot: Gold Lot 1a

Now, truth be told, not all MLB ballparks provide the ideal tailgating experience. It’s an especially big deal if you can’t even park your RV there. (And there are some that you can’t.) From limited parking options to strict beverage and cooking regulations, here are the bottom seven MLB gameday tailgating experiences.

7 MLB Ballparks in an RV Tailgating Slump

    • New York Mets: Citi Field
Mets’ Citi Field struggles to ignite pregame excitement. Sure, we wanna meet the Mets! Pull right up and greet the Mets! But we can’t in our RV. Limited nearby hangouts and strict regulations put a damper on tailgating aspirations, exacerbated by the notorious New York City gridlock. It’s no surprise that Citi Field bottoms out our list for lackluster tailgating experiences in 2024.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Oversized Vehicle Parking Lot (aka Pork Chop Hill)

    • New York Yankees: Yankee Stadium
Despite its prime NYC location, Yankee Stadium lacks pregame charm. Stringent rules and a dearth of family-friendly amenities make it tough for fans to embrace the tailgating tradition amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Which feels like a big missed opportunity. For RVers. For baseball fans. And for humanity.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot

    • Miami Marlins: LoanDepot Park
While Miami boasts a vibrant culture, getting to LoanDepot Park presents challenges. Miami’s maze of limited parking and strict regulations aren’t the pregame primers that any RV wants to wander through. And navigating traffic jams in Miami sure doesn’t sweeten the pot. Which is a shame, considering how many RVers LOVE camping in Florida and are around at the end of snowbird season.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot No. 3 – West

    • Oakland Athletics: RingCentral Coliseum
The Ole Ball Game is traditionally pretty big on festivities. RingCentral Coliseum doesn’t have many. With stringent alcohol policies and spare amenities, tailgating here pales in comparison to other ballparks, although hopes rise with talks of a glowing new stadium in Las Vegas.Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lots A, B, C, & D

    • Toronto Blue Jays: Rogers Centre
No tailgating and pricey parking at Rogers Centre feel like a total three and out. While nearby bars offer some respite, you don’t need an RV to go there. Inside the stadium, the overall ambiance fails to ignite the excitement found in other MLB ballparks.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Must Reserve Ahead of Time

    • Tampa Bay Rays: Tropicana Field
Tropicana Field’s uninspiring exterior is a good reflection of its lackluster pregame scene. While tailgating is allowed and parking ample, the overall vibe fails to create the memorable experience that other ballparks seem so good at delivering.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lots 2, 6, and 7

    • Los Angeles Dodgers: Dodger Stadium
Despite its prime spot in sunny Southern California, Dodger Stadium prohibits tailgating. Safety concerns and the absence of family-friendly amenities further detract from the pregame experience. And with limited vehicle height allowances, fitting an RV into their lot is a tall order.

Nearest RV Parking Spot: Stadium Parking Lot

    Dodger Stadium

Find your next new or used travel trailer for sale online.

Don’t get us wrong now: Attending an MLB game is always exciting. But every sports fan knows that the pregame tailgate can set the tone for the entire day. Nothing bonds fans more than connecting over hot food and cold drinks before the first pitch. And there’s no better place to do that—with your awning out and your TV on—than your RV. So, if you’re looking to make that dream happen—at MLB tailgates or anywhere else—browse the nationwide inventory of new and used RVs for sale on RVTrader.com.

The Best Picks for Spring Training Ballparks

When you travel for Spring Training, just like when you’re planning an RV trip to the Big Game, consider these top spots that offer RV parking, nearby campgrounds, entertainment for the family, and pristine venues for fans.

    1. Salt River Fields at Talking Stick – Scottsdale, Arizona

Salt River Fields at Talking Stick is the Spring Training home for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, and it’s celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024. It’s a top-seller for tickets, with shaded seating and high attendance numbers, panoramic mountain views, and an onsite resort and casino.

    • RV Accommodations: There are excellent RV accommodations at Salt River Fields, including spacious parking areas and convenient hookups. It’s also an all-inclusive experience, combining the resort adventure with spring baseball.
    • RV Parking: Salt River Fields has devoted RV parking spaces with easy access to the stadium. You’ll have plenty of space to park your rig before the game.
    • Nearby Attractions: Scottsdale boasts a vibrant arts scene, upscale shopping, and outdoor activities to round out the trip.
    • Venue Quality: It’s a top pick for a reason, as this 11,000-seat facility is both modern and well-maintained. Grab a hotdog from a vendor, take a stroll during the seventh-inning stretch, and enjoy the mountain scenery.

    2. JetBlue Park at Fenway South – Fort Myers, Florida

It’s no wonder JetBlue Park at Fenway South is a favorite with fans since it’s home to one of the most popular teams in baseball, the Boston Red Sox. With 10,000 seats, a replica of the iconic outfield Green Monster, and nearby attractions, Fenway South is an ideal vacation destination.

    • RV Accommodations: There are plenty of RV campgrounds and resorts in Fort Myers and the surrounding area to choose from, with easy access to the ballpark to enjoy the games.
    • RV Parking: While parking is included in your admissions ticket, for each Spring Training game, check with the ballpark personnel for their parking accommodations based on the size of your vehicle.
    • Nearby Attractions: Beautiful beaches, wildlife preserves, and historic sites—Fort Myers has it all. Plan a family outing for spring break, or enjoy the campgrounds during your stay.
    • Venue Quality: It’s Fenway Park with a Florida twist, including natural scenery with greenery, entertainment, and updated facilities for an authentic baseball experience.

    3. Hohokam Stadium – Mesa, Arizona

The Oakland Athletics might be moving to Las Vegas, but right now their Spring Training home is Mesa, Arizona and Hohokam Stadium. The facility might be older but it’s undergone excellent renovations with 10,500 seats, a large LED video board, and improved concession stands.

    • RV Accommodations: Aside from RV access at the ballpark, Mesa has RV sites with hookups for longer stays. Explore the natural scenery, get out in nature, and tailgate with baseball fans prior to the games.
    • RV Parking: Hohokam has parking for oversized vehicles and RVs for a small fee when attending Spring Training, with easy access to the stadium.
    • Nearby Attractions: With museums, art centers, dining, nightlife, recreation, off-roading, and parks, Mesa is an eclectic mix of outdoorsy and adventurous. Cheer on your teams, then take a hike, or relax outside while it’s warm out.
    • Venue Quality: Hohokam Stadium has comfortable seating and green space in the outfield, plenty of choices with vendors for concessions, merch, and sprawling views to get some sun while you watch the game. Just watch out for those foul balls.

    4. Camelback Ranch – Glendale, Arizona

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox are the home teams at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, which is part of the Greater Phoenix metropolitan area, so you can expect plenty to do. With 13,000 seats, including 3,000 on the lawn, and updated facilities, it’s one more top pick.

    • RV Accommodations: There’s no shortage of RV campgrounds and resorts near Glendale and Phoenix. Just plan your stay well in advance to grab a campsite closer to the field when it’s game time.
    • RV Parking: You should find RV parking at the ballpark, but as always, check ahead of the game to see what’s available for fans and what’s permitted when it comes to tailgating.
    • Nearby Attractions: Check out the Westgate Entertainment District for dining, shopping, and entertainment. Or take a trip to Thunderbird Conservation Park for a hike outdoors.
    • Venue Quality: It’s hot and sunny in Arizona, but you can still enjoy the game under the shaded awning. Camelback Ranch has a few more nice touches that make it stand out, like an orange grove, rock retaining walls, a bandstand, and luxury box seating.

Spring Training Ballparks You Might Want To Skip

While every ballpark has something unique to offer, we have a few you might want to avoid or take extra time to plan based on limited accessibility for RVs. Whether it’s limited parking, or lack of RV infrastructure, be careful when booking your trip.

    1. LECOM Park (McKechnie Field) – Bradenton, Florida

Formerly known as McKechnie Field, LECOM Park is the host of Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training games. The park is over a century old, which explains why it might not be the most accommodating facility for RV travel.

    • RV Accommodations: While the ballpark is older and has undergone renovations, expect there to be limited RV spaces and lack of hookups. While you’ll find RV parks and rentals so you could experience Pirates games, you might want to leave the vehicle at the campground and find another means of transportation.
    • RV Parking: There’s limited dedicated RV parking may require early arrival for a suitable spot depending on the size of your vehicle, especially larger RVs. Check with personnel ahead of the game to see where you can find a space.
    • Nearby Attractions: Despite the lack of RV infrastructure, you can still enjoy the great outdoors near Bradenton. Explore Everglades National Park, go hiking, plan a beach trip, kayak, or boat when it’s not game day.
    • Venue Quality: You could say LECOM Park/McKechnie Field is a historic venue with a classic feel, including a Spanish mission-style facade. The park keeps going through renovations, and is considerably smaller than some other Spring Training stadiums, with room for 7,500 (and 9,000 when it comes to standing).

    2. Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium – Jupiter, Florida

The Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals share their Spring Training home in Jupiter at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. While it’s considered a state-of-the-art facility for these teams, it is a smaller venue in terms of seating and accommodation for RVs.

    • RV Accommodations: There are campgrounds near Roger Dean, so you can find some RV accommodations. Plan and book ahead though, as spaces might be limited for longer stays, especially considering that five major league teams host games within the vicinity of Jupiter for Spring Training outings.
    • RV Parking: Check with the facility’s personnel on parking, as paid lots might be found near the stadium. You might be better off leaving the RV at the campsite.
    • Nearby Attractions: Jupiter has plenty of pristine beaches, parks, and wildlife sanctuaries not far of a drive from Roger Dean.
    • Venue Quality: While it’s smaller, the stadium does offer luxury seating, plenty of outdoor seating, an outdoor covered area to cool off, and new eating and drinking vendors. Since you’re not far from other Spring Training destinations, you could compare how Roger Dean stacks up to the other venues.

    3. Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium – Lakeland, Florida

While it’s a historic field that’s hosted Detroit Tigers Spring Training games since 1946, it is a considerably older stadium that’s recently undergone a couple of much-needed renovations to modernize. Along with a smaller seating capacity compared to other ballparks and a simple outfield layout, you might find less nearby attractions between games.

    • RV Accommodations: There are several options for RV parks for camping around Lakeland, but with a smaller and older facility with less seating capacity, it might be more difficult to bring your rig to the game.
    • RV Parking: Check the park’s policies for parking based on the size or class of your vehicle for Tigers games this spring.
    • Nearby Attractions: Dining, theaters, parks, and an animal reserve can all be found around Lakeland, but RVers might discover more to do outside of town for recreation and entertainment.
    • Venue Quality: It’s old, so it has its history, but Joker Marchant might lack more modern amenities compared to other Spring Training ballfields.
