I take issue with your statement, “While all new RV come equipped with CO detectors, they need to be replaced every five years”. There are many functioning detectors out there older than that. The manufacturers recommend replacement every 5-7 yrears to “benefit from the latest technology upgrades”. If I was making them, I would like to see that happen myself! Replace the batteries as indicated, vacuum the dust, push the test button & call it a day…
